Why this requirement?
All environmental Directives share a common basis – whoever places products on the market is responsible for the wasted that product will generate on that very market (principle of the producers extended responsibility).
It is, therefore, necessary to create in each Member State a register that, when it comes to the nature of the product (for example, Electric Equipment or Batteries and Accumulators), identifies the companies that place them on the market and confirms that they are fulfilling their environmental obligations. As a result, the register is mandatory.
In Portugal, ANREEE is the register entity of Electric and Electronic Equipment and Batteries and Accumulators.
Being registered is not only an obligation. It is also an advantage.
